Snapshots

Turns out when the weather is nice & the sun is shining it is really hard to blog.  We have spent every spare minute outside since Saturday morning.  Here is a "catch-up" of sorts via my phone.

1. Saturday is spent building & planting our garden.
2. Sunday Lily sacks out after church...guess all the manual labor from Saturday wore her out.
3. Monday I found the best icecream flavor ever.
4. Tuesday we finally found chalk for our newest addition to the playroom & Aubrie had her first "lesson".
5. Wednesday we dealt with Lily's eczema.  Spring/Summer always starts her flare ups.
6. Thursday the girls wore their new hats to school & Mommy gets a break!

Favorite Thing Friday

Spring Break!
Although it has rained every day this week, it has been nice to just be home without a schedule.

Happy Weekend!

Sports Junkie

Aubrielle is obsessed with sports.  All sports.  It doesn't matter what one it is...if she can participate she will.  We just finished up a 5 week session of Itty-Bitty Basketball & she loved every minute of it.  It was fun to watch her improvement over the 5 weeks & if she continues with her long-legged growth pattern she will be a great player.

So cute!

Waiting her turn....

...to do this drill.

Snagging a "5" from her Daddy.

Lily cheering her on!  :)
The whole team.  Yes, she was the only girl!

{Tasty} Tuesday

Chicken Florentine Lasagna
Do you love lasagna?  Do you love your crock-pot?  Then this recipe is for you!

3 Chicken Breasts, boneless/skinless, cooked & diced.  (I boiled mine in chicken broth.)
2 Cans Cream of Chicken Soup
1 Cup of Milk
8oz Sour Cream
1 Package Frozen Chopped Spinach (Thawed & drained well.)
1/3 Cup Chopped Onion
1/2 Cup Parmesan Cheese
1/2 tsp. Garlic
1 tsp. Italian Herbs
9 Lasagna Noodles (NOT cooked.)
2 Cups Shredded Mozzarella Cheese

Combine chicken, soup, milk, sour cream, spinach, parmesan cheese, onion, garlic & herbs.
Spray your crock pot. Break 3 noodles to fit in the bottom of crock pot.  Spoon 1/3 of mixture in to bottom of crock pot & sprinkle with 1/3 mozzarella.  Repeat twice.    Cook on low for 6-7 hours.

Enjoy!

News Flash

Parenting isn't glamorous.

Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:  Who being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking on the very nature of a servant, being make in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death-even death on a cross!  Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Philippians 2:5-11

We have been sick for 14 days in our house.  Not all at once...it has been progressive.  The kind of sick that starts with one & then Mommy sits back & watches everyone else fall like dominos.  We have paid 3 co-pays, brought home 8 prescriptions & gone through 1.5 boxes of Kleenex.

Gary Thomas, author of Sacred Parenting, gave me deep insight today.  He says, "Jesus looked earthy in his human body, his work took on unparalleled importance.  He left the glamour of heaven to get dirty, and even occasionally smelly, on our behalf.  He chose a relationship with us over a spotless appearance and heavenly comfort."  Parenting calls us to that same place.  If our motivation as parents is glamour alone we will miss Jesus Christ.  If glitz is what motivates us, then we will miss the wisdom & the genius of the gospel.  As parents, when we experience our own lack of glamour, we can take with us outside our homes a new understanding of what really matters.  Becoming more like Christ.  We, as parents, should act out of reverence for God & not as society tells us.

My patience in thin, my tolerance for snot & coughing in the middle of the night has worn me down. My girls don't realize that Mommy feels just as sick as they do & that Daddy was up half the night coughing too.  But they do know when I respond out of my flesh after a long day of being housebound & can tell the difference between me being patient & loving versus me being tuned into my selfish desires.

Lord, make me more like you!

"One Coffee With Room"

While the picture quality is poor the pictures speak for themselves.  I taught Lily how to work the Keurig this morning.  She was so proud to hand deliver her Daddy his coffee as he was gathering his things to leave for the morning.  This may be my best idea yet!  :)

Rachel
P.S. I did make sure to include in her training session that she isn't allowed to pick up the cups once its done brewing.  Hot coffee is still hot coffee & she was careful to be safe.

It's Back!

Spring Soccer started back up this past Saturday.
9am games mean freezing cold temperatures.  We were totally unprepared with it being Lily's birthday and barely made it out of the house with our chairs.  Poor Lily just had a sweater & had to be held the whole game.  We will be more prepared this week...and it will probably be nice & warm!

She is either laying out the game plan or complaining that her parents didn't bring her a coat.

Running keeps you warm.  It also makes your lungs burn.

I'm sure by the end of the season we will be basking in the warm sun & will be glad that her games are so early in the morning...but until then I will be bundled up.

Celebrating Lily!

We had a FUN weekend celebrating Miss Sass for her 3rd birthday!
We started Friday night with a small family party.

"Posing."

A sucker before bedtime...sure, why not!

On Saturday afternoon we continued the fun with her closest friends.  She had a blast & was so excited the whole weekend. It is really fun when they start to understand that the celebration is for them!

Love her!

I made the cupcake picks but let the professionals do the baking.

I love this picture.  It shows her happiness over us singing to her!

A Minnie Mouse dress-up outfit.  The girl was in heaven!

Happy Birthday Lily!
We love you so much.  You bring so much joy, fun & laughter to our family. I am so thankful that God chose me to be your Mommy & love your strength.  I pray that you will one day use that strength to serve God with your whole heart.

Love,
Mommy
